Discourage litigation. Persuade your neighbours to compromise wherever you can. Point out them how the nominal winner is often a real loser in fees, expenses and waste of time , these are the words which has greatly inspired me. Upon keen observation and zeal towards Alternative Dispute Resolution techniques, I have decided to head my career in ADR. ADR is a field where the issue is settled outside the court with multiple benefits. Parties would be able to solve the issue with minimal fee (sometimes, zero fee), within no time and moreover, one will be saved from the burden of formalities of court proceedings. Being the effective means of dispensing justice, ADR provides confidentiality to the information provided by the clients. With this knowledge that created immense interest, I prefer to join IMW as Student Ambassador from our university. Why Rajesh as Student Ambassador?
With the immense interest and passion towards ADR, I ve interned at Bangalore Mediation Centre during the first semester internship break and currently interning at Regional Centre of The International Centre for Alternative Dispute Resolution, Hyderabad during the second semester internship break. With this enough exposure and knowledge, moreover the enthusiasm for contributing to society and providing justice to the downtrodden sections of the society, I wanted to join IMW as a student ambassador which even boosts my exposure as a student.
What if I were given a chance?
Visakhapatnam is a place where people hardly knew about ADR. Hence, the awareness drives are needed to be conducted from the elementary level. This involves conducting awareness drives at schools and colleges, organising awareness campaigns at large public gatherings such as malls and moreover, visiting the slums, and residential areas and making hapless people cognisant of ill effects of litigation. The total action plan is as follows:
1. Flash mobs at large and busy public gatherings.
2. Organising seminars at various schools and colleges thus making students aware of
ADR.
3. Awareness drives in collaboration with DSNLU s legal aid cell.
4. Visiting neighbourhood of University and dealing with the issues.
5. Street plays in and around University and the city of Visakhapatnam.
6. Online campaigns in social media.
7. Organising ADR competitions in University such as client counselling competitions.
Some of the afore mentioned activities are carried out in collaboration with Legal Aid Cell and Centre for Advanced Research in Dispute Settlement (CARDS) Society, Damodaram Sanjivayya National Law University and the rest are organised with the help of student volunteers.
