I am Ishita Dutta, a 2nd year law student from Amity University Kolkata (Amity Law School, Kolkata) and I am very keen to be a part of Indian Mediation Week Program [Dec 10-16]. I have participated in the Access to Justice Conference held at The West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences and was awarded the 'Best Idea'. The concept of Mediation is not that common and mediation awareness activities are necessary. As I stay in the southern part of the city, I will first try to engage people from my locality. I will print papers which will have the basic idea about what a mediation is and I will distribute it to the local shopkeepers, community mothers. To promote this noble idea, I will talk it out with the people and make them understand the concept without complicating it. To cover a wider part of this city, I will engage my friends from law school and engage people from their area. I will organize small awareness camps in my college to educate my classmates about the issue and then we will also be able to contribute towards this cause. After each mediation camp, I will try to take a survey just to see how things worked for people after the camp. Each and every problem faced by them will be noted by me and will be addressed by my faculty members or I will report to you people (maybe) or other mediation camps in Kolkata. I will provide my phone number for future reference.Time has come to expand the scope of mediation and make this concept known to all.
