I am shireesh tyagi, student of 4th year pursuing BA.LLB(HONS.) at IMS Unison University, Dehradun.
I have keen interest in arbitration and mediation. I have attended a week long programme on ADR in India & USA organised by Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab where basics of mediation, negotiation and arbitration were taught.
I have interned at District court, Uttrakhand human rights commission and Uttrakhand Information Commission and successfully organised Legal Aid camp as student co-convenor and during these engagements I got opportunity to interact with judges, administrative authorities, advocates, police officials and parties of cases, where I observed the intense sorrow and hardships that people face while they wait for justice. I firmly believe in the established dictum of justice delayed is justice denied .
I see mediation as a path that can lead to cost and time efficient settlement of disputes. I am oriented towards spreading awareness amongst people about how they can seek speedy and effective redressal to their problems through mediation.
I am also inclined towards making people aware on how mediation can help them resolve matrimonial disputes and other such matters like child custody, outside the court while maintaining privacy.
If given opportunity, my target areas will be District Court (civil and family courts) , Uttrakhand human rights commission, information commission, local markets, women commission, purkul stree shakti samiti, Rural Litigation and Entitlement Kendra( RLEK) & various police offices ( like SP & SSP office). An attempt to educate people working with NGOs will also be made in my awareness drive for far reaching impact.
